Our Values

Family, fairness and integrity are the core elements of our organization. Our children grow up learning and understanding what responsibility and consequences mean by working on our ranches. We value integrity, knowing that we won't get ahead with dishonesty. We value fairness - sharing corporate profits with employees who choose to co-invest in the business. We value humor and fun, believing that we won't be good at what we do unless we enjoy it.

All wildlife and plant life is precious and everything that we work for attempts to preserve it. We use grazing animals as much as possible to manage endemic weed species. We do not use fertilizers. We do not use pesticides unless absolutely necessary. We do not mass dose with antibiotics. We take great pride in raising healthy, productive livestock  that are functional and fully adapted to their natural environment.

anching is a way of life that is important in our cultural history as a nation and to the large scale preservation and restoration of our natural resources. At Ranchlands we work every day to preserve our ranching heritage and traditions by living them, while simultaneously embracing new ways of thinking.

Working and living on our ranches has always been a privilege to us, and we consider it our responsibility to protect the lands that support us. We also view ranching as the best alternative in our country for preserving biodiversity at a large scale. We realize that the world is changing fast with an elevated focus on the environment. We view the public concern about environmental land management issues as an opportunity for ranchers and environmentalists to learn from each other, and to combine resources and knowledge to become better stewards.

Ranching is losing a high percentage of its young people and at the same time, the present refinancing of the American west is seeing many ranches being purchased by conservation organizations and investors, all with very little ranch and hands-on ecosystem management experience. Our management methods incorporate education and business diversification in order to keep young people interested in ranching and to provide learning opportunities to new ranch owners.

We want to preserve this way of life for the future generations, for other ranching communities, and for the public at large. We are working toward this goal by offering our expertise in ranch management, ecologic restoration, business management and entrepreneurial creativity to other ranch owners, all based on our own direct involvement in ranching.

Our Mission

Our mission is to promote the conservation of ranch lands, our American ranching legacy, and the highest quality of life for ranch owners and their employees through innovative and sustainable business ventures, long-term business partnerships, and strategic alliances inside and outside our industry.

Our Motto

Working together to live with the land.
