This week on Thursday and Saturday we will be taking the 19 bulls out of the 600 cows and heifers. The bulls were put in with the females on June 15th so their breeding season has been about 75 days. We will ride through each pasture, sort the bulls off, and move them to their own small pasture far away from the cows and heifers. Sometimes they will not want to leave the herd (surprise, surprise) so it can take a bit of teamwork and good maneuvering of your horse to cut them out. Once we have all the bulls together, the main work is done and all that’s left is to take them to isolated pastures where they will live until next June. Oh, the life of a bull.

Gordon has new friends
For a while now we have been wanting to get Gordon the orphan some friends, it's taken a  while to find the right ones and here we are, 3 pygmy goats. He's not too sure about them right now but hopefully he'll warm up and they will be the best of buds in no long as he doesn't distract the goats from getting their job done.....weed eating!
They just need names now.....any ideas?
