The elk are migrating onto the ranch for the spring.  I saw twenty head off the main road a couple days ago, bison on the right and elk on the left.  Also, I saw about 75 sand hill cranes, the first ones I've seen this spring (if you want to call it spring yet).  The sand hill cranes spend the spring, which is their breeding season, in the San Luis Valley.

Very windy today.  I think it's the wind that comes with the changing seasons.  However, February is definitely still winter, and we plan on having much more wind going into March.  We've had some recent snow falling on Mt. Blanca which supplies our meadows with flood water in May and June which is quit a beautiful sight.  We still need the big spring snows up high to get that water running.  We plan on recieving cattle on March 13th and the horseback work will increase significantly.
